This wallpaper, from the mid-18th century, was found in Cranford, Middlesex, and has a yellow, S-shaped floral pattern printed on thick, handmade rag paper. It is special, because yellow was a popular color, but it was also expensive and faded quickly. The paper seemed more expensive than it actually was, by applying a shadow effect. This effect was obtained in a cheap way by using the same block to print two different colors.
