The Melaky collection by Arte draws its inspiration from the rich and diverse landscapes of the Melaky region on the island of Madagascar – from dry savannas and sweeping grasslands to lush mangrove forests.
At the heart of this collection are two native, natural materials: the bark of the mulberry tree and the fibres of the raffia palm. Using traditional craftsmanship, these materials are entirely handcrafted into unique wallcoverings. The result is a series of organic designs with pronounced textures and subtle depth, evoking the natural beauty of the Melaky landscape.
Warm, earthy tones and artisanal finishes create an atmosphere of calm and authenticity. Melaky is a timeless collection that effortlessly blends elegance and simplicity – perfectly suited to both modern and classic interiors.
Raffia is often used in interiors because it holds such natural appeal. In the Farini design, raffia is utilised in an innovative way: after being woven into a wide, plain wallpaper, the sides are cut off. These strips are then attached to each other vertically and overlapping to create a dynamic line pattern with plenty of depth. The name refers to Raphia farinifera, a tropical African palm tree.
